Healthcare

I believe health care should be more affordable and accessible.

Oppose Today health care costs are rising at about 7% annually, well above the rate of inflation.
Oppose Here in NH about 13% of our citizen are without health insurance.
Every State is looking at this issue.  Our neighboring State of Massachusetts is proposing to make the purchasing of health issuance mandatory for all its citizen who can afford it, with penalties if you don’t purchase it.  I am not in favor of this type of State regulation.
Propose I propose that New Hampshire allows for business or groups to come together in forming larger groups ensuring that  insurance companies compete for this block business.  If the groups were substantial then they could self-insure  small coverage such as doctor's appointments. In addition they could purchase insurance for catastrophic coverage. This would further reduce cost for such policies.

Some of the following important legislation has been brought in front of the House:

Support Governor Lynch’s Senate Bill 125 that repealed a law that doubled and in some cases tripled the cost of health coverage in our area.
This bill eliminated health status and geographic location from rating factors and clarified other issues relating to small group health insurance.
This bill ended the practice of requiring employees to fill out detailed, intrusive forms about their health histories.
This bill prohibited insurance companies from discriminating against small businesses in the North Country.
Support House Bill 515 which allows for small businesses to come together in what is called “Purchasing Alliances”.
The purpose of the bill is to increase affordability, efficiency and fairness of health insurance and allows small businesses and their employees to reduce the cost of purchasing health insurance.
The current State Representative did not vote on this bill.
Support Resolution for Stem Cell Research which was sent to the President, Vice-President, the Speaker of the House and the NH Congressional Delegation by the House of Representatives in support of finding cure for devastating diseases and injuries.
Support  House Bill 37 which extends health coverage to full time students on medical leave of absence.
This is known as "Michelle’s Law", named after a Plymouth State student Michelle Morse, who had to remain enrolled in college in order to maintain health insurance coverage after being diagnosed with colon cancer.  The disease took her life in November 2005.
